Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) are run by a committee of local volunteers who strive to bring their communities together by supporting activities and events in their area.

They work closely with partner agencies, such as City of Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Police and local Councillors to improve the areas they represent.

We also support Tenants Clubs, which are a way of meeting with members of the community to encourage social activities in a less formal way.

The frequency of meetings/events can be determined to suit the community’s needs.

Their activities are varied, some campaign on issues within their community whilst others offer regular social activities such as a coffee morning, lunch club, bingo or chair-based exercise.

A number of associations and clubs also provide activities for children and young people and encourage the old and young to work together to deliver improvements for their communities.

Joining or Setting up a TARA or Tenants Club?

Membership is made up of St Leger Homes’ tenants and residents living within a set boundary for the area.

Often, St Leger Homes can provide a local communal hall, free of charge for the TARA or club to use. Anyone living in the local area, over the age of 18, can form or join a group with the help from our dedicated Customer Involvement team.
