The UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 were introduced in order to protect information relating to living individuals, and bring legislation up to date to take new technology into consideration. This information can be held either electronically or manually, for example: on a computer or in a filing cabinet.

As an individual, you have many rights under the Regulation, these are:

  • The right to be informed how your information is being collected and processed (usually via a privacy notice)
  • The right to request a copy of your own personal information (subject access request)
  • The right to request to rectify inaccurate information.
  • The right to request to erase information we are not required to process or keep.
  • The right to restrict the processing of your information.
  • The right to request your information is passed to another organisation (data portability)
  • The right to object to automated decision making about yourself.

St Leger Homes of Doncaster (SLHD) is committed to meeting its data protection obligations and handling your information securely.

Data Protection Officer (DPO)

For the purposes of the Data Protection Legislation, as a wholly owned organisation of The City of Doncaster Council, the Council is the Data Controller and SLHD is the Data Processor. The only processing that the Organisation is authorised to do is listed in this Schedule by the Council and may not be determined by the Organisation.

The Council is required by law to have a Data Protection Officer (DPO).  The DPO has a number of duties, including:
• Monitoring the Council’s compliance with data protection law;
• Providing expert advice and guidance on data protection;
• Acting as the point of contact for data subjects; and,
• Co-operating and consulting with the Information Commissioner’s Office
